A line of canoes and kayaks get ready to challenge the water portion of the Sydenham Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon Saturday. More than 500 participants competed in at least one of 14 events of the Olympic distance race that consisted of a 1500m swim, 40 km bike, and a 10km run. Sydenham resident Scott Takala repeated last year's win beating his 2009 time by 14 seconds with a finish of 2:02:01. In second and third place were Trevor Davies, of Kingston, and Clive Morgan, of Odessa. In the women's race, Lianne Crawford, of Toronto, set a new course record with a time of 2:20:36, beating out Laurie Ross, of Battersea, and Megan Cromartie, of Kingston, in second and third place spots.
