Summer Recital Series

The St. George's Cathedral Summer Recital Series continues July 15, with a performance by the Cranberry Dixie Band. Songs include Sweet Georgia Brown, Five Foot Two, Bugle Call Rag and the Saints. Also in July, Thursday, July 22, is violinist Christine Choi and pianist John Burge, who will be performing works by Mozart, Bach and Saint-Saens.Show runs 12:15-12:50 pm. at St. George's (corner of King and Johnson). Admission is free with a freewill offering collected.

1812 Overture weekend

The very popular 1812 event at Fort Henry will take place Friday and Saturday 16 & 17.

Members of the Kingston Symphony, the Fort Henry Guard and special guest Jill Barber will present an evening of music guaranteed to delight and amaze spectators of all ages.

Music by Brahms, Beethoven and Holst as well as pieces from Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, and Harry Potter will thrill audiences and singer Jill Barber will entertain audiences with songs such as Ashes to Ashes, Be My Man and One More Time.

Tickets are $25.99/adult, $24.86/seniors, $20.34/youth 5-18 and $3.39/children 2-4 and can be purchased at Fort Henry prior to the performance, online at www.ticketweb.ca or by phone at 1-800-437-2233.

Classical Music Series

The Thousand Islands Playhouse is proud to present Andre Laplante, an international superstar pianist who, over the last decade, has firmly established himself as one of the great Romantic virtuosos. Scottish Country Dancing

The sounds of Scottish music will have your toes taping as dancers participate in traditional Scottish country dancing, Wednesday, July 21 in the Newlands Pavilion (next to Murney Tower) Show starts at 7pm. and is free of charge.

Summer music program concert

The Kingston Townsmen Chorus and Quartets will perform as part of the City of Kingston's outdoor summer music program, Thursday, July 22 on the lawn of St. Andrew's Church. The one hour concert will begin at 7pm. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Free admission.

Woman's Music Festival

Myles Acres will play host to the 2010 'Raise the Roof' Woman's Music Festival, July 23-25. Women 19+ are invited to come out and celebrate the spirit of women through music and nature. Performers include Sharon Katz & Peace Train, Sonja and Disappear Fear, and Lucie Blue Tremblay. Weekend pass: $75, day passes: Fri. $25, Sat. $40, Sun. $25. Kidney Benefit Concert

The Sydenham Street United Church is hosting a benefit concert in support of The Kidney Foundation featuring Crooked Wood. Concert will be held Sunday, July 25 at 7pm. Tickets: $10 available at Renaissance Music, Brian's Record Option and Tara Natural Foods

Youth Orchestra

The National Youth Orchestra of Canada will be performing at the Kingston Gospel Temple, Monday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation.
